Moomin mug Home is a very special mug in many different ways. First of all it is one of the few mugs that have had its production number disclosed. Only 8 000 pieces altogether. Besides the Fazer mug and Sea Breeze Platinum, this is the only numbered mug. These are the only Moomin mugs, that are hand-painted, so each one is slightly different.
This mug was launched to celebrate Moomin 80th anniversary. The Moomins and the great flood, the story that the illustration of the mug is also based on, was published in 1945.
The mug’s original retail price of 189,90€ has split opinions among the Moomin collectors and only time will tell where the price will set in the future. The only way to acquire it besides the second hand market was through a lottery. Only after winning it were you able to buy the mug.
Did you know that the Home mug number was reserved to Finnish President’s wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb?
80th Anniversary of the Moomins
The artwork on this mug is based on the very first Moomin book, which Tove Jansson wrote during Second World War.
